Riverside Fire and Police Athletic League
The Riverside Fire and Police Athletic League is a youth crime prevention program that utilizes educational, athletic, and recreational activities to create a positive relationship between public safety and youth. It is based upon the conviction that young people - if they are reached early enough - can develop strong, positive attitudes towards public safety professionals, which in turn helps to reinforce responsible values and attitudes as they grow and mature.
Recognizing the need to provide meaningful opportunities to the youth of our community, in 2005 the Riverside Department of Public Safety formed the Riverside Fire/Police Athletic League (F/PAL.) Through our national membership to the National Police Athletics/Activities League Inc., we are one of the over 400 member chapters in law enforcement serving over 700 cities and 1,700 facilities nationally. While Police Athletic Leagues are not unique, it is believed that Riverside is the only department in the country to sponsor a Fire and Police Athletic League.
In accordance with Section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code donations to the City of Riverside, Missouri's Fire and Police Activities League may qualify as a charitable tax deduction since such monies are used exclusively for a public purpose and the donator received no benefit in return for the contribution. As always, you should consult a tax professional or the IRS if you have questions.
